David McDougall is an award-winning producer and director based in NYC. He recently produced the four-part documentary series QAnon: The Search for Q  (2022), a heart of darkness journey through America after the January 6 insurrection. as well as two seasons of the VICE documentary series While the Rest of Us Die  (2020 and 2021), narrated by Jeffrey Wright.  He has worked as a producer and director for the Emmy and Peabody-winning weekly newsmagazine series VICE on HBO, covering stories across the U.S., Middle East, Africa and Asia. He also directed and produced the award-winning series TERROR with VICE founder Suroosh Alvi, leading crews through the front lines of the global war on terror, gaining rare access to groups like Boko Haram, al-Shabaab and al-Qaeda.

On the audio side, David created a new national CBC documentary radio program called Live Through This, and developed and produced The Village, an investigative serial which The New Yorker and Time both called one of the best podcasts of 2019. He also produced the award-winning NBC podcast series The Lost Kids (2020) about the troubled teen industry. His CBC reporting from Syria earned him an Amnesty International Media Award. He regularly worked on assignment for The Globe and Mail's foreign desk, covering stories in Africa and the Middle East. And his work has also appeared on NPR, BBC, ABC, CBS, Paramount+, Peacock, Hulu and others.
